Houses at #teamCHPS
At Cheadle Heath Primary School, our House System brings our school community together to foster a sense of belonging, nurture strong relationships across all year groups, and cultivate future leaders.
Every child from Reception to Year 6—along with all members of our staff—belongs to one of four Houses. Being part of a House creates a vibrant "team within a team," encouraging pupils to collaborate, build lifelong connections, and experience friendly competition throughout their school journey.
Why Have Houses?
Our House System is designed to help every pupil thrive by developing core values and life skills:
Belonging: Your house is your primary team and family within the wider school community.
Relationships: Pupils connect and work alongside children and staff outside their immediate year groups.
Teamwork: Working together to build shared success and celebrate team achievements.
Friendly Competition: Learning perseverance, sportsmanship and resilience in a supportive environment.
Leadership Opportunities: Developing responsibility and leadership skills through pupil roles.

Year Group House Captains: Representing pupils across every year level.
Earning House Points
Pupils earn House Points throughout the school day for demonstrating our values, showing strong effort, maintaining great attendance and representing our school well.
Dojo Conversion: 10 ClassDojo points = 1 House Point token.
Collecting Points: Earned tokens are added to classroom pots and combined into our giant central House tubes.
Competitions & Challenges: Points are regularly awarded during house sports competitions, 100% attendance awards, reading challenges, Times Table Rockstars competitions and class challenges.
Core Values: Points also recognise pupils demonstrating self-belief, determination, respect, honesty and teamwork during challenges.
Rewards & Celebrations
We celebrate collective achievements regularly across the school year:
Half-Termly Winners: At the end of every half-term, the winning House is announced, receiving a special reward and having their House banner displayed proudly alongside the trophy.
Sports Day: A dedicated award is presented to the winning House on Sports Day.
The House Cup: At the end of the academic year, the final cumulative House Points determine the grand winner of the prestigious House Cup!
