Information Evenings & Workshops

Communication with Parents and Carers

We are committed to working in partnership with parents and carers to support pupils’ learning, progress and wellbeing. Regular opportunities are provided throughout the academic year for families to discuss their child’s academic achievement and personal development with school staff.

Two formal Parents’ Evenings are held each year. These meetings enable parents and carers to discuss pupils’ attainment, progress and engagement in learning with the class teacher. Teachers are also available after school by appointment should parents and carers wish to discuss any aspect of their child’s education. Staff will contact parents and carers directly where there are concerns or where additional information needs to be shared.

Autumn Term
Parents and carers are invited to attend an initial Parents’ Evening to discuss how pupils have settled into their new class and established learning routines. A Book Share session takes place prior to the meeting, providing an opportunity to review pupils’ work.

Spring Term
A formal Parents’ Evening is held to review pupils’ progress and attainment across the curriculum. Parents and carers are again able to view their child’s books and discuss next steps in learning.

Summer Term
End-of-year written reports are shared with parents and carers during the Summer Term. Opportunities are available to meet with teachers to discuss the report. Parents and carers are also able to meet their child’s new teacher for the following academic year.

Workshops for Parents and Carers

We provide a programme of workshops throughout the academic year to support parents and carers in developing their understanding of the curriculum and how they can support learning at home. These sessions strengthen the partnership between home and school and promote active engagement in pupils’ learning.

In the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), parents and carers are invited to attend regular Stay and Play sessions. These sessions include a clear curriculum focus and provide opportunities for families to learn alongside their children, developing an understanding of early learning approaches and expectations.

For pupils in Years 1–6, termly Stay and Learn sessions are held. These workshops focus on different areas of the curriculum and allow parents and carers to experience teaching and learning activities alongside their child. Sessions have included reading, phonics, mathematics, science and orienteering.

Workshop content is reviewed regularly and is informed by feedback gathered through parent surveys and previous events to ensure sessions remain responsive to the needs of families.
